As a student in our Agricultural Industries and Marketing (AIM) major, you will complete 120 credits to graduate. The numbers in parenthesis following the course titles below indicate the number of credits for each particular class. For example, (3) means the class is worth three credits.

To be considered a full-time student you will take 13 credits per semester. To graduate in four years, you will take a minimum of 15 credits each semester. Access the University's Undergraduate Catalog (www.catalogs.umn.edu) for a complete list of courses and academic policies.

Agricultural Industries and Marketing Emphasis Areas
To further specialize your AIM degree, you will complete approximately four courses (13-14 credits) in an emphasis area as part of your program requirements. The areas of emphasis are:
    Crops/Soils Industries
    • Emphasis area includes courses focusing on plant biology and physiology, crop management, and pest control.
    Food Industries
    • Emphasis area includes courses focusing on food science, food service operations management, and food quality.
    Individualized
    • Emphasis area is built around a student's interests with the help of an academic advisor and must show a definite theme.
University Liberal Education Requirements and Electives
In addition to our program's required courses, electives in your chosen emphasis area, and those needed to complete the University's liberal education requirements, you will have about 21 elective credits remaining. These elective credits can be taken outside the major and are used to meet the 120 credits needed for graduation. You are encouraged to pursue a College or University-wide minor that further explores your interests and career goals.
